Get Out (R16)

Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend Rose (Alison Williams) have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, and she invites him for a weekend at the home of her parents Missy and Dean (Catherine Keener and Bradley Whitford). For Chris, this is a big deal, as he is black and Rose is white, and he is understandably nervous that Rose’s parents could have a problem with him. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behaviour as awkward attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined.

Directed by Jordan Peele, one half of the celebrated sketch comedy team Key & Peele and now an explosive new voice in horror cinema, GET OUT rips open the racist canker at the heart of racial tensions in America (and, indeed, everywhere) in a highly inventive, surprising and masterful film that actually warrants the maxim that everyone needs to see it.
